Begin with a visit to Topkapi Palace (closed Tuesdays, visit to the Harem is optional and not included in rate), the main residence of the Ottoman Sultans, with its jewel encrusted treasury and elegant four courts. After a lunch break, visit the main sights around Sultanahmet Square, including the famous Hagia Sophia Museum (closed Monday’s), once the largest church in the world for 1000 years, and decorated with stunning 6th century golden mosaics.

Then visit the Blue Mosque, designed with 6 delicate minarets and a striking blue Iznik tiled interior. Nearby, take a stroll through the site of the ancient Hippodrome, once the sporting ground of chariots and political riots, and see the Egyptian Obelisk, Serpentine Column and Fountain of Wilhelm II. Finally, visit the Grand Bazaar, where you can shop or haggle with local merchants over unusual antiques, colorful spices, beautiful jewelry and richly textured fabrics. Drop off to cruise ship port

We begin with a brief visit to the 17th century Spice Bazaar one of Istanbul’s most colorful and bustling attractions. Next, we take an unforgettable cruise along the Bosphorus, the majestic strait that runs through Istanbul, linking Europe and Asia. From our cruise boat, we view the dramatic sights lining the Bosphorus’ wooded shores: mosques, a bridge that for a time was the world’s longest and the massive Rumeli Hisarı (no entrance), a fortress built by Fatih the Conqueror in just three months as he prepared to take Istanbul. Also noteworthy are the 19th century mansions of the Ottoman elite and the Sultan’s fanciful gingerbread palaces and hunting lodges.

Pick up at the port. Proceed to downtown Beyoglu & Pera and take a stroll down Istiklal Avenue to the Galata quarter, a Jewish community neighborhood for centuries with many synagogues and bustling street life. There we visit the Ashkenazi Synagogue, which serves the community of European Jews. En route, see the cosmopolitan nature of the city passing historic diplomatic posts, handsome old houses, fashionable boutiques and cafes. Stop-off at Galata Tower (no entrance), once the high-point of the Genovese fortified town, from which there are spectacular views over the city. Also visit the Neve Shalom Synagogue, the largest modern synagogue in the city center to a strong Jewish community. Our final visit is to the Ortakoy Synagogue. Drop off to the cruise ship port.

Pick up from cruise ship port. Take a scenic night drive to the restaurant, where you will enjoy an evening of a delicious full course meal of fine Turkish cuisine (includes half a bottle of wine or soft drink). Enjoy belly dancers and an Anatolian Cultural Folklore entertainment group. Drop off to cruise ship port.

Early morning flight to Kayseri. Arrive in Kayseri Airport in the morning and drive to Cappadocia. First stop will be Ozkonak Underground city, and visit to Devrent Valley, to see the unique fairy-chimneys. Drive to Pasabag (Monks Valley) to see the most interesting mushroom-shaped pinnacles. In the afternoon visit another beautiful Open Air Museum at Goreme where the remains of rock-cut churches and Christian settlements date back hundreds of years. Transfer to Kayseri Airport for flight to Istanbul.

Pick up from the port. Drive to Gallipoli making a lunch stop en route (approx. 4 hours 15 mins drive one way). Upon arrival, visit the Lone Pine Australian Memorial and Chunuk Bair New Zealand Memorial, ANZAC Cove, Johnston's Jolly and Gallipoli Museum. Return to Istanbul after the tour.

Pick up from your cruise ship. On your way to Ephesus, you will stop at St Johns Basilica atop Ayasuluk Hill built in honor of the Saint who wrote his gospel on this very hill. See the 4th-century tomb where his remains are said to be housed. The ancient city of Ephesus was an important center for early Christianity. In the book of Revelation, Ephesus was one of the seven churches addressed by Christ in a vision. It is here that you will find the Temple of Artemis, considered to be one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Your guide will also show you the Great Theatre, the Library of Celsus and many temples. After enjoying some authentic Turkish cuisine at lunch, you will visit the House of the Virgin Mary, where she spent the last days of her life. Visit Pergamum, an ancient city dating before the 4th century BC. Its home to the second largest library in the ancient world, the steepest Theatre of Anatolia, the monumental Altar of Zeus and the Roman Medical Center ruins of Asklepion, work site of the great physician, Galen. Pergamum is one of the finest archaeological sites in Turkey. The city was a great center of culture and the capital of East Roman Empire.

On the Acropolis there are numerous remains including the celebrated Library, the steepest Theatre of Anatolia, the Temples of Trojan and Dionysos, the place of the monumental Altar of Zeus famous with the relief of God and devils, the Sanctuary of Demeter, the Gymnasium situated on terraces and the lower Agora.

After a delicious lunch with Turkish specialties, you will visit the Archaeological Museum of Bergama. Proceed to the Medical Center of the ancient world, Asklepion where the first psychological treatment had been used and which was dedicated to the God of Health, Asklepios.

In the morning you will leave Izmir or Kusadasi behind and drive to Pamukkale. This amazing place is a beautiful and spectacular natural site, unique in the world with its fairylike, dazzling white, petrified lime cascades. There you will see the thermal spring water laden with calcareous salt, plunging down the mountain side which has created this natural formation of stalactites, cataracts and basins. The thermal water has been used since the Roman period for its therapeutic powers.

Next you will visit the Roman city of Hierapolis, which is not located not on earth or rock, but on solid limestone layers formed by limestone water that flowed for centuries over this raised level plateau. The name means "sacred city", and according to Stephanus of Byzantium the city was given this name because of the large number of temples it contained.

Spend a day exploring the Jewish site in the ancient capital of Lydia - Sardis. You will visit the Marble Synagogue and Gymnasium, along with the Smyrna Market and the Archaeological Museum. Your tour will depart Izmir or Kusadasi for Sardis, capital of ancient Lydia, where once the churches of St. John existed.
