DAY 01:
ARRIVAL COCHIN AIRPORT AND TRANSFER TO HOMESTAY.

ABOUT LE COLONIAL: Le Colonial is full of antiques, period furniture and manuscripts and therefore a delight for the heritage stay aficionados, artists (it houses paintings from the Christies), researchers etc. The history is all there to feel and celebrate at Le Colonial which makes it a must visit for historians as well. Colonial chic meets art collection and exotic artifacts.
It housed the Dutch Governors for century and a half till Ian vas Spall sold it to the British in 1795, who in turn, passed it to J.Thomas, the legendary English trader of tea. Le Colonial, nestled by the Chinese fishing nets in Fort Cochin is probably Asia's oldest colonial house- dating back to 1506, restored as a boutique hotel / home stay in the centre of Fort Cochin. |

DAY 02:
COCHIN SIGHTSEEING.
After breakfast depart for the sightseeing tour of Cochin visiting - The Jewish Synagogue at the heart of what is locally called the Jew Town, the St. Francis Church, the oldest European Church in India, the Santa Cruz Basilica originally built in 1557 by the Portuguese, the Dutch Palace, the Spice market at the narrow streets and the Chinese fishing nets which are huge cantilevered fishing nets believed to have been brought by Chinese traders. In the evening visit Nettoor Kalari centre to witness the Kalarippayat demonstration. Kalarippayat is one of the oldest living traditions of Martial training, Physical culture and self defence method in the World. The Kalarippayat is derived from two words in Malayalam, Kalari and Payatt. Kalari means the place, where any particular art form is taught. Payatt literally means practice or exercise. DAY 03:
COCHIN TO KUMARAKOM (70 km / 2.5 hrs).

ABOUT PRIVACY: Privacy at Sanctuary Bay, on the shores of the charming Vembanad Lake, is a two-bedroom house situated about 45 km from Kochi. ABOUT MUNDACKAL HOMESTAY: Nestling in the virgin hills of the western ghats, this home is surrounded by a cluster of rubber, pepper and coconut plantations and tiny villages in an area of 104 acres. Built a decade ago by restoring on a century old home at Mundackal Estate over a hundred acres of multi crop plantation. The architecture is a version of kerala style of homes seen across the state modernized by good usage of wall space by using large bay windows, inward cut verandahs and large glass coverage letting in fresh air and light indoors. |

ABOUT AYEESHA MANZIL: Ayesha Manzil is a beautiful, old colonial style mansion overlooking the blue Arabian sea. This bungalow was built in 1862 by Murdoch Brown, an Englishman who came to Tellicherry as a trader of the East India company. A 300 acre Cinnamon gardens largest in Asia was set up, 10 kms away from this house , which still exists and is the only one- of - it's kind in the country. |
