In the evening you visit a popular classical dance-drama of Kerala "Kathakali". The name Periyar comes after the Dam made here by the English in 1895.  A wild life reserve hence is an ideal place to track down wild life such as Elephants, Bison, Deer and numerous other varieties of birds. The landscape here is with very tropical and you will be surrounded by tea, coffee & other spices. On arrival check on to hotel and by 4:00 p.m. we will take you on a guided plantation tour to a nearby garden where various species of spices and other aromatic plants are cultivated. The guide will explain and clarify your doubts according the species used in the Indian cuisine. (Overnight stay in Thekkady).

ABOUT SPICE VILLAGE:
Curling around a misty ridge 2,000 ft high in the Periyar fastness, is the arborarium, one man's personal forest, with fruit trees, rare herbs and a profusion of flowering plants.

And here, is the resort – Spice village. A village produced whole, using mountain spirit and tribal wisdom as building material.

Your cottage is brick and log, the roof thatched with the same elephant grass used in tribal huts, woven in the same traditional techniques.
Of course, the comforts of a modern hotel exist, but they never intrude. Modern plumbing, comfortable beds and hot showers find their place, but in a setting stripped down to its natural essence.
Hewn stone replaces shag carpets. Birdsong takes the place of television.
Air-conditioning? Unnecessary anyway in the fine mountain climate, and what would it do but mask the heady scents of spice forests?.

Day 04: PERIYAR SIGHTSEEING.
Early morning at 06:00 a.m. you will go on a guided Jungle walk in the Periyar tiger Reserve National Park. This 03-hour-walk (not very hard) is very interesting and gives you a chance to see wildlife life at a very close distance. Periyar Reserve is a home to herds of elephants, sambar, gaur, macaques and Nilgiri langur. If you are lucky you may even spot the rarely sighted leopards and tigers. Today you will go a two hour Boat Cruise on the Periyar Lake. During this journey you can see the wild animals along the shore bathing, drinking, resting and foraging. It is an excellent spot to see a family of elephants, wild boar and sambar deer by the water's edge. (Overnight stay in Thekkady).
